‘O ‘OE ‘IO, E MAKUA LANI

March 10, 2013 by admin Leave a Comment

You are ‘IO, Heavenly Father

The ‘Io is the Hawaiian word for the Hawaiian Hawk.

But in this song, ‘IO represents the one true God. The God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

This line simply acknowledges that God is God.

The Best Deals in Hilo

March 3, 2013 by admin Leave a Comment

Which Mechanic, Day Care, Termite Control, Solar Installer, Doctor and Dentist has the best prices and quality of service in Hilo?

What if you could easily compare the prices and ratings of these businesses and more with a single click of your mouse?

In the past the only way to find out if you were getting a good deal or getting ripped off was to pick up your phone can call a bunch of these businesses to find out how much they charged.

We are building a website that will list the prices and ratings of these types of Hilo businesses for you.

But calling all of these businesses to get their prices takes time, so we won’t have the prices of every single business from day 1.

So which types of businesses would you like to see prices on first?

Mechanics, Doctors, Termite Control, Hair Salons or something else?

Help direct our efforts by leaving a comment below and let us know if you want to be notified when our price comparisons are available.

Should Albertini Speak at Hilo High?

March 3, 2013 by admin

Should anti-war activist Jim Albertini of Kurtistown be allowed to speak at Hilo High?

Initially Albertini was banned from speaking because Hilo High Principal Bob Dircks believed that Albertini’s speech would prove to be too disruptive to the school. But on Friday Dircks reversed his decision after receiving approximately 50 emails that where just about evenly split between being for and against Albertini speaking.

The initial controversy was sparked when librarian Amy Okuyama wrote a letter protesting teacher Joseph Watts for deciding to invite Albertini.

Murder Rate Increasing in Hilo

March 2, 2013 by admin

In a recent article in HTH, Hilo police chief, Harry S. Kubojiri, said:

Homicides doubled over the five-year period from three in 2008 to six last year, and the chief alluded to the spate of six killings already committed in 2013. Most of the murders over the past five years were domestic cases, he noted.

Why do you think our murder rates are going up? And what can we do to reverse this horrible trend?
